If you're in the Milwaukee area on Sunday, January 31, 2009 please join [http://www.gluten-free-foods.us/ Gluten Free Trading Company] and other members of the [http://www.ourmilwaukee.net Our Milwaukee] business association for a fundraiser to benefit survivors of the recent Haiti earthquake. The event will take place from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at [http://www.lakefrontbrewery.com Lakefront Brewery], where New Grist gluten free beer is made. Gluten Free Trading Company will be sponsoring the New Grist table, so if you purchase a New Grist 100% of the proceeds will go to charity. We're also donating gluten-free pretzels, snacks, and a door prize.

The event is called "Our Milwaukee 4 Haiti" and supports two organizations with ties to the Milwaukee area, [http://www.friendsoftheorphans.org Friends of The Orphans] and [http://www.youthaiti.org Youthaiti]. Both organizations have established practices in Haiti. At this time both are working to provide emergency relief, and they are also invested in the well-being and rebuilding of the country for the long term. Specifically, Friends of The Orphans operates orphanages and a hospital (which was severely damaged by the earthquake), while Youthaiti works on sanitation and disease prevention projects.

The event will include music performances by at least three groups: percussionist Cecilio Negron Jr, musicians Chalice in the Palace, and raggae artists Dub District. Attendees can expect to find Lakefront beer, prizes from more than 50 Milwaukee businesses, food from local vendors, a silent auction and presentations from both Friends of The Orphans and Youthaiti throughout the day. Families and children are welcome to attend. Lakefront Brewery is located at 1872 North Commerce Street. A $5.00 donation is suggested.
