Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Cones

Frozen custard is king here in Milwaukee and many of the custard stands offer chocolate dipped cones. They look so good but contain gluten, so here's our version of a Milwaukee favorite:
- On your work surface put down some wax paper: the cones will drip and it can get messy. You’ll need some small bowls to hold the toppings. You can use chocolate chips, Let’s Do Sprinklz, chopped nuts, coconut, pretzel bits or anything else you want.
- Melt some chocolate chips. For six cones we used ½ cup Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips melted in the microwave for 2½ minutes on high – stirred halfway through the cooking time. Cooking times may vary.
- Dip the top 1" to 1½" of the cone into the melted chocolate. If the chocolate isn’t deep enough for you to dip the cone, you can use a spoon to spread the chocolate on the outside of the cone (don’t dip too far down because your hand will melt the chocolate when you hold the cone). You can also pour a little of the chocolate into the cone to make your own drumstick.
- While the chocolate is melted, dip the cone into your toppings, pressing lightly and covering it thoroughly. Then set the cone down on the wax paper to harden. When the chocolate is firm, fill with your favorite iced treat and enjoy!
