Erewhon (pronounced AIR-waan) was the first company to establish a Charter of Quality Standards for Natural Products. Their products adhere to the following guidelines: * No synthetic additives or preservatives * No artificial colors or flavors * No hydrogenated or solvent extracted oils * No refined flour or sugar * Only natural sweeteners such as honey, maple syrup and molasses. Starting in 1970, Erewhon was a pioneer in contracting with farmers to produce organically grown crops.
